Natalia Uribe joins BDP as its new cities director

BDP has appointed Natalia Uribe as its new cities director, a role intended to strengthen the practice’s international work in strategic urban design, regeneration and masterplanning.

Uribe, who has more than 20 years’ experience delivering large-scale urban projects across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, will oversee the development of BDP’s city-scale initiatives and support the expansion of its Good City programme.

Her appointment forms part of BDP’s wider strategy to integrate regenerative design, sustainability and social value into urban planning. The firm said she will work with clients to shape inclusive approaches to urban development.

Uribe is the founder of Urban World Matters, a consultancy focused on regenerative urbanism and was previously a director at AFK Studios.

Uribe said: “Cities are good for us, at least they can and should be. They have the potential to be good for economic growth, for our quality of life and wellbeing, for arts and culture and for the environment. I am excited to bring together all the knowledge and experience within BDP to help design places for a global community.”

BDP’s global head of urbanism Nick Edwards said Uribe “brings a rare blend of high-level urban strategy, international delivery experience and a passionate commitment to people-centred and regenerative cities”, adding that her leadership “will amplify our global capabilities and reinforce BDP’s role as a trusted partner to major city-makers and developers worldwide.”
