The firm worked on a speculative laboratory scheme at Harwell Science and Innovation campus in Oxfordshire that completed earlier this year

Profit and turnover both improved at Scott Brownrigg last year, according to the firm’s latest accounts.

Pre-tax profit was up to £4.2m in the year to 31 January 2026 from a restated figure of £1.2m last time while income edged up 8% to £30m.

But despite the increase the firm admitted: “We are experiencing significant pressures on fee levels.”

The practice, whose staff numbers stayed flat at 168 during the period, said the bulk of its revenue was from the UK with £21.5m of turnover – up from £16m last time – while overseas work was just over £8m, down from £11.7m last time.

Despite the fall, it said: “A key focus for 2025 was continuing to grow our international profile, with active projects and opportunities in Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Ireland.”

And it added: “The UK and international markets continue to face challenges due to rising living costs, inflation, increased construction costs, and ongoing uncertainty in various geo-political regions. Nevertheless, our strategic focus on diversifying our international portfolio has mitigated these risks, resulting in strong revenue growth.”
