Hawkins Brown has been appointed to design a new £45m business, languages and social sciences building for Aston University.

The architect will manage the design and lead the design team for the building which will provide teaching and office accommodation and will be located in the 24ha Gosta Green campus.

Hawkins Brown has been awarded a £763,000 contract to complete the project in the centre of Birmingham.

Expected to be complete in 2023, the new building is part of the university’s regeneration masterplan over 10 years, drawn up by local practice Node and expected to cost up to £240m.

In October last year, Aston University appointed 14 consultants to its consultancy framework for its new-build, fit-out, refurbishment and demolition projects as part of the campus regeneration masterplan. The four firms on the £3.6m four-year architecture framework are Broadway Malyan, Associated Architects, Glancy Nicholls and Robothams.
