Total turnover for firm’s Europe business ticks up to £75m

Gensler’s turnover in the UK rose by nearly 30% last year as the firm’s planned expansion in the country gathered pace.
Income from the UK at London-based Gensler Europe increased to £33.5m in the 12 months to 31 March 2025, up from £25.8m in the year before.
Total turnover at the practice ticked up from £73.7m to £75m during the period, although pre-tax profit fell from £1.7m to £1.46m.
While Gensler’s turnover in the Middle East dropped from £24.4m to £19.1m, it said it had entered into a “substantial confidential contract” in the Middle East with a value of £216m which started towards the end of the financial year.
It said £9m of invoices issued to the client for the scheme are included in the accounts.
Although the project was not named, the accounting period covers Gensler’s appointment to a senior role as city planning consultant on the first phase of The Line in Saudi Arabia.

In Europe, the firm’s turnover also dipped from £18m to 16.8m, but edged up in other EMEA regions from £5.5m to £5.8m.
The fastest growing part of the businesses during the year was its cities division, which grew from turnover of £17.4m to £22m, while its biggest division, which focuses on commercial projects, slid from £31.2m to £29.5m.
Projects in the UK which Gensler worked on during the accounting period include its refurbishment of Foster & Partners’ City Hall building, a £1bn cancer research centre in south London for Aviva Capital Partners and Socius and a 200,000sq ft life sciences scheme on the Wellcome Genome Campus in Cambridgeshire.
