Studio housed in first two floors of firm’s own 100 Fetter Lane scheme
Fletcher Priest has unveiled its new headquarters, located in an office building in Holborn designed by the practice and opened last year.
The firm, which is behind plans for three major commercial skyscrapers in the City of London’s main tower cluster, will occupy the ground, mezzanine and first floors of 100 Fetter Lane on the western fringe of the Square Mile.
The 13-storey building for YardNine and BauMont Real Estate Capital spans a total of 90,000sq ft of Grade A office space, with Fletcher Priest taking up 15,000 sqft accessed via its own dedicated entrance through a pocket park.
Visitors arrive at a curated gallery of architectural models and a home-kitchen space that acts as a place for social gathering, team meetings, lunches and shared events. Desks are mostly positioned along the west and south elevations of the space, capturing the best daylight.
The centrepiece of the studio is ‘The Grid’, a nine sq m space framed by a yellow acoustic curtain which can be fully opened to the wider studio or enclosed, providing an atmospheric setting for breakout meetings, roundtables, and larger gatherings.
The currently unoccupied mezzanine level is envisioned as either space for future expansion or as a sub-lettable area for an organisation in a complementary field, Fletcher Priest said.
The firm’s managing partner Ed Williams said the new office put staff close to many of their clients and “right in the heart of one of the most exciting areas for growth in the capital”.
“It’s not only a key move to energise and grow our business, but we are glad to have the support of the City of London as a front runner in bringing the creative industries back to the Square Mile,” he said.
“Treating ourselves as a client has been a (mainly fun) learning process for us throughout the design and our new studio.
“It has given us a better understanding of creating a considered design approach which we can transfer to our client relationships as we support them on future projects.”
