Four new hires working from studio in Southwark

Birmingham-based landscape practice Bradley Murphy Design has opened a new studio in London.
A team of four newly recruited landscape architects will work from an office at 180 Borough High Street in Southwark.
The team will work closely with the wider practice (BMD), which currently employs around 40 people with recent projects including Buckley Gray Yeoman’s redevelopment of the former Shredded Wheat factory in Hertfordshire.
The new hires include senior landscape architects Andrew Scanlon and Will Brewer, who have both joined from landscape practice Exterior Architecture.
Ava Dunning, who has worked at John McAslan + Partners and Turkington Martin, has joined as senior landscape architect and Bea Tann, a landscape planning specialist and RHS Chelsea Flower Show medal winner, has joined as project landscape architect.
BMD said the new studio will give it greater flexibility in how it supports projects in the capital with architects who can respond faster when meetings or on-site input is needed.
The firm’s co-founder and director Laura Bradley said: “We’ve been working with London-based clients and design teams for years, on projects here in the capital and right across the country.
“Having a studio here with such a great team in post is a real step forward. It means we’re getting round the table sooner, can meet for workshops at short notice and respond quickly when a programme moves.
“Some of our best ideas come from being round the table sketching, or out on site with clients and the wider team, and those face-to-face conversations make the design collaboration richer, more creative and, frankly, a lot more fun.”
Co-founder and director added: “For me, it’s simple. We’re one team across London and Birmingham, bringing the right people and expertise together from day one.
“Our clients get senior people on the ground in London, backed by the full strength of our landscape, ecology and urban design team in Birmingham.”
Other schemes the practice has worked on in London include a 643-home gasworks scheme in east London by Pollard Thomas Edwards and a 3,500-home garden community in Chelmsford designed by JTP.
