A pivot door with fully tested 60-minute fire and smoke performance has been brought to market for the first time in the UK, offering architects a certified solution to one of commercial interior design’s more persistent compliance headaches

Forza Doors new FD60S double action pivot door delivers an FD60S-rated assembly in a double-door pivot configuration – a combination that has until now been unavailable with full test certification. The product is the result of more than a year of engineering development, driven by demand from practices that wanted the aesthetic and spatial benefits of pivot doors without sacrificing fire-safety compliance.

When it comes to fire resistance, pivot doors present sealing challenges that conventional hinged doors do not. Because the door rotates on a top-and-bottom pivot rather than side hinges, standard threshold sealing solutions cannot be directly applied – the geometry of the sweep arc is fundamentally different. Forza Doors responded by developing a bespoke threshold seal that maintains certified fire and smoke protection while preserving smooth operation.

The doors are manufactured in the UK, and available in more than 30 wood veneers, 50 laminate finishes and a range of painted options. Embodied carbon is stated at 6.27 kg CO₂ eq/m² for double-leaf flush frame, and FSC-certified materials are available on request.

Forza managing director Will Hunnam said, “This is a solution that architects and designers have been asking for, combining compliance, innovation and peace of mind in one product.”

Forza Doors will be showing the doors at Clerkenwell Design Week, running from 19 to 21 May.
