Big-ticket firms vie for Budapest transport museum

Foster, Chipperfield, Caruso St John, Diller Scofidio & Renfro and Amanda Levete in running for Hungary competition
The organisers of the design competition to create a new base for the Hungarian Museum of Transport have revealed a shortlist for the project that contains some of the world’s most famous practices.
Foster & Partners, David Chipperfield Architects, Caruso St John Architects, Diller Scofidio & Renfro and Amanda Levete Architects feature among the list of 15 bid teams vying to transform a 7-hectare former railway works site into the new centre.
They are joined by Perkins & Will, Ralph Appelbaum Associates, Schmidt Hammer Lassen, and Bjarke Ingels Group, as well as Hungarian practices KÖZTI Zrt, CÉH Zrt – which is partnering Fosters, 3H Építésziroda, and Építész Stúdió Kft.
