Architects support charity’s Bow Wow Haus initiative
Zaha Hadid Architects is among the architects and designers that have produced ideas for a dog kennel to raise money for charity.
The project is called Bow Wow Haus and will see more than 80 kennels will go on display around London next year before they are sold at auction in May.
ZHA’s design, Cloud, is described as a cocoon-like kennel elevated slightly above the ground to protect its inhabitant from a cold floor.
It is constructed in CNC milled plywood using digital design and fabrication methods.
Other kennels include Design Haus Liberty’s Bark-alona Pavilion, modelled, obviously, on Mies van der Rohe’s legendary 1929 Barcelona Pavilion.
FT Architects and fashion designer Bruce Oldfield created a hollow golden pebble lined with red cushioning.
And Studio Shaw produced a wooden design with an integral staircase.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards the refurbishment of Blue Cross’ re-homing centre in Kimpton, as well as supporting the Outdoor Arts Foundation which promotes community art projects around the world.
