Scheme part of council plan to create creative district in east London
PRP and film studio operator MBS Group have completed a 21.5 acre film and TV production campus in east London.
Eastbrook Studios contains 567,000sq ft of floorspace across nine buildings on the previously industrial site in Dagenham.
Funded by Hackman Capital Partners, the scheme is part of Barking & Dagenham council’s ambition to create a creative hub in east London.
It has converted two existing warehouses into six soundstages and includes a further six newbuild soundstages, workshop spaces, production offices, and a 1.7-acre backlot.
The buildings have achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating, with the scheme’s sustainability features including PV roof panels, all electric services and sedum roofs.
Alistair Weir, partner at PRP said: “Eastbrook Studios represents the culmination of more than a decade of learning by PRP in the Film and HETV sector, which combined with the unparalleled experience and reach of MBS Group and Hackman Capital Partners in operating studio space worldwide, has helped deliver one of the most technologically advanced studio developments in the UK.”
The project team included contractor Volker Fitzpatrick along with consultants Hoare Lea, IESIS Consult, Calibre Consulting, WP3, and Plan-It.
Eastbrook Studios is the largest studio project for PRP in the practice’s growing creative and digital portfolio which covers projects across the UK and Europe, along with advisory work for the UK film industry on best practice for studio design.
