Eataly London is the restaurant chain’s first UK branch

Gensler has completed work on the first UK branch of Eataly, an Italian marketplace-style dining chain.

It contains several restaurants, cafes and bars and will open over the next few months in line with government restrictions.

The scheme, next to Liverpool Street station, on Bishopsgate in the City of London, was built almost entirely during the pandemic.

Iain Casagranda, a director at fit-out specialist Structure Tone, said the firm had 135 people on the job at peak, with the number averaging 90 throughout the 13-month build programme.

Eataly now has 29 restaurants across the world – including 20 in the US and Italy – 14 years after opening its first branch in Turin.
