Covid sends Aukett Swanke to £1m interim loss

Listed architect expects business to rally as work in Europe holds up

The country’s only listed architect has said its performance will improve in the second half but not by enough to prevent it posting a full-year loss.

Aukett Swanke said it had nosedived to a £1m pre-tax loss in the six months to March from a £136,000 profit last time on turnover down 28% to £5.3m.

It blamed failing workloads for the losses as well as the amount it still had to shell out on fixed costs, such as PI insurance and rent.
