Global architecture practice BDP has hired Yuli Cadney-Toh as architect director at its Bristol studio.

Cadney-Toh joins the firm – now owned by Nippon Koei – from Woods Bagot, however she previously worked for RSHP for more than a decade, as well as running her own practice: Toh Shimazaki.

Nick Fairham, head of BDP’s Bristol architecture studio, said Cadney-Toh’s CV included high-rise, aviation, commercial and broadcasting projects that would benefit the 60-strong south-west team.

“Yuli brings outstanding experience in design ability and commercial awareness that will be a great asset to the Bristol studio,” he said.

“We look forward to working with her to develop our growing portfolio of work in the region.”

Japanese engineer Nippon Koei paid £102.2m for BDP in March last year. At the time BDP chief executive John McManus said the move was a “strategic international alignment” that would deliver huge benefits to the practice’s clients and offer staff “exceptional prospects”.
