Base Architecture & Design has opened a new office in Chester to support demand for its one-off homes across the north-west and Wales.

The 14-year-old practice, which also has a base in Shrewsbury, said it was currently working on more than 190 projects covering “Grand Designs”-style new builds, renovations, extensions, and urban and commercial developments.

Director Harry Reece said the firm had seen a significant increase in enquiries from areas such as Tarporley, Nantwich, and Crewe.

“We have a growing client portfolio in Cheshire, Wales, and the north-west, so Chester was the perfect location for us,” he said.

“Our work on an array of schemes from traditional design sympathetic to its surroundings through to innovative cutting edge contemporary design also fits in perfectly with the architecture in Cheshire.”

The practice has also recently appointed architect Abigail Owen from city-based practice Cassidy & Ashton.
