The Hindu Heritage Experience Centre dedicated to Indian spiritual guru Kripalu Maharaj

Arup has shared new images of its parametric Hindu spiritual and educational complex which is currently under construction in northern India.

The Hindu Heritage Experience Centre in Mangarh, Uttar Pradesh, aims to translate the spiritual teachings of spiritual guru Kripalu Maharaj into a physical and experiential journey.

It has been designed by Arup for the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP) Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded in 1970 by Maharaj.

The complex consists of two main buildings, including the Lotus Building, which has been designed to symbolise “purity and awakening” with its petal-shaped forms arranged around a central statue of Jagadguru. It houses exhibition spaces and facilities for visitors.

How the scheme will look when finished

The scheme’s other main element is the Namaste Building, which is shaped like joined hands and aims to express unity and respect. Its central tower aims to reflect the form of nearby temple spires and will house sacred relics alongside spaces dedicated to study and reflection.

The complex is expected to complete in late 2026.

Arup associate director Claudia Tschunko said: “The project reflects the JKP Foundation’s vision for an experiential journey, centred on the spiritual teachings of Jagadguruttam Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj.

“This collaboration is set to become a cultural asset for the people of Mangarh. Integrated with the existing domed gathering space, temple, and memorial, the new cultural centre will form the heart of a growing civic campus for the JKP Foundation.”

Maharaj, who died in 2013, was an influential sprititual leader in India who established three major temples, including the Prem Mandir in Vrindavan, one of the ten largest Hindu temples in the world.
