London mayor to make final decision on east London homes

A scheme by JTP for nearly 1,000 homes in east London has been given planning by the local council.

The project at Canning Town, called Brunel Street Works, was approved by Newham council with London mayor Sadiq Khan now due to have the final say on the plans.

Other architects working on the job include Grid and Cartwright Pickard.

It will feature four buildings with the highest coming in at 26 storeys and the lowest at nine storeys.

The scheme will also include cafes, a hotel, restaurants, retail as well as workspace for creative firms.

It is being developed by Opal, a joint venture partnership between Thames Valley Housing, Galliford Try and Fizzy Living.

Work is set to start later this year and last four years.
