Lammy lament
I thought your criticism of David Lammy was unfair (Focus April 21). The fact that no one knows the name of the minister for architecture is not entirely his fault. The press is also to blame.

Density debate
I do not agree with all of the conclusions of Ellen Bennett's article (News Analysis April 7), but the issues of high-density housing raised must be debated.

Rural views
It was a shame that Ellen Bennett did not talk to the Campaign to Protect Rural England before writing her article about high density development. Had she done so she might not have misrepresented our views.

House proud
Regarding BD's piece on the advertising of our house (Concrete Boots April 21), we would like to say we were honoured to be selected for Fiona Reid's "advertorial" in Scotland on Sunday.

Take architecture away from the DCMS
It is an open secret in Whitehall that the Department of Culture Media & Sport is considered one of the weakest departments, and to be made one of its ministers is the diplomatic equivalent of a posting to Turkmenistan. So, should we pity the ambitious David Lammy, whose portfolio includes ...

Photograph fears
I am a British Muslim architect who, like most architects, is keen on taking pictures of buildings. Although I am clean shaven and quite a regular guy, I am obviously not of Anglo-Saxon appearance.

Remaining green
Your article entitled "Cutting the Greenwash" (Solutions March 24) underlined the importance of post-occupancy monitoring in buildings designed to be energy-efficient which are failing to achieve their design targets.

Stop the infighting
I wholeheartedly share Owen Luder and Frank Duffy's regret (Letters April 7) that in-fighting has been a feature of the RIBA/ Arb relationship, due, as I see it, to the board's determination to extend its responsibility for registration to include regulation - a comprehensive role which arguably stretches its powers ...

We reported last week (Power play April 13) that the London Borough of Brent was allowing the demolition of the Firestone building. The building being demolished is in fact Giles Gilbert Scott's Guinness building at Park Royal. The Firestone building on the Great West Road was demolished in 1979. Apologies ...

If I were London's design director ...
Does London need a design director to bang the table for better architecture in the capital? If such a post is to be created it is because there is a certain desperation by London's civic leaders to see some action.
