Stocktons scheme to include two buildings of 50 and 26 storeys containing office space and 758 apartments
Simpson Haugh has submitted plans for yet another residential tower scheme in Manchester consisting of two buildings rising to 50 and 26 storeys.
The Stocktons scheme has been designed for developer Liquid Funding Business and would contain 758 build-t-rent apartments and 45,000sq ft of commercial space.
The scheme would be located on the former Stocktons Furniture site off Great Ancoats Street to the east of Manchester city centre in a district earmarked for regeneration by Manchester city council.
Simpson Haugh was appointed to the scheme in 2022 to look at options for the one-acre site, which had been home to the Stocktons Furniture store since 1953.
Despite the relatively small size of the site for a two-tower scheme, around 55% of the site will contain landscape public space.
The project team includes cost consultant Artal, landscape architect Re-form, structural engineer Renaissance, MEP engineer Futurserv, daylight consultant GIA and planning consultant Turley.
The scheme is the latest in a string of tower schemes in Manchester designed by Simpson Haugh which include the UK’s tallest tower outside London, the 76-storey Viadux 2 scheme, which was approved last month.
