Vorley Road plans to include new Archway Library and medical centre
Levitt Bernstein’s plans for a 79-home mixed-use scheme for Islington council have been approved.
Councillors voted to back the Vorley Road scheme at a planning committee meeting yesterday evening.
Over half of the new homes will be affordable, with the scheme consisting of 33 homes for social rent, seven as shared ownership and 39 for private sale. One in ten homes will be wheelchair accessible.
The plans also include a new space for Archway Library, a new GP surgery and public realm improvements along Vorley Road including new lighting and cycle parking.
The project will replace an existing two-storey office and bus waiting area with three blocks of 15, nine and five storeys which will be powered by heat pumps and photovoltaic panels.
The project team includes planning consultant HTA Design, structural engineer Calfordseaden, acoustic consultant Max Fordham, heritage consultant KM Heritage and transport consultant Lime Transport.
