JP Morgan has appointed Gensler to design a £60m redevelopment of an office building near the Barbican.

The 140 Aldersgate scheme will overhaul an existing 2005 building on the site designed by Sidell Architects which will be refurbished with some new build included in the work.

A planning application for the scheme is expected to be submitted this spring with work set to start early next year after existing tenants move out and is expected to finish towards the end of 2028.

JP Morgan bought the existing nine-storey building last summer from Landsec, which has owned the site since it was first built.

Landsec has previously said it will not start any more speculative office development until its two major under-construction projects in London at Thirty High and Timber Square are substantially leased.

Meanwhile, Gensler has named a host of new appointments including five new principals to its UK and Europe leadership team.

Megan Dobstaff, Madeleine Hilton, Joost Lansbergen, Nathan Morgan and Jonathan Clarke have all become principals alongside 11 senior associates and 35 associates across the firm’s offices in London, Birmingham Paris, Munich and Berlin.
