Five blocks up to 17 storeys to be built at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Newham council has approved Maccreanor Lavington and Gort Scott’s plans for the first phase of the 1,000-home Pudding Mill Lane development.
Joint venture partners Vistry and London Legacy Development Corporation have secured approval for 355 homes at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park across five buildings ranging in height from three to 17 storeys.
Around 80% of the scheme will be classed as affordable, split between 191 intermediate homes, 91 for social rent and 10% designed to be wheelchair accessible.
Construction of the scheme is expected to begin this autumn.
The wider 1,000-home scheme was granted outline permission in 2023 with 45% of homes across the entire site expected to be delivered as affordable with the development also set to include 30,000 sq m of new commercial space.
A reserved matters application for the second phase will be submitted to Newham council this summer, with later phases set to include a community centre, a nursery, a health centre and retail space.
Maccreanor Lavington is lead designer with Gort Scott acting as plot architect and LDA design working on landscape. The project team also includes Quod as planning consultant, Price & Myers on structures and civils, Mendick Waring on MEP, Aecom on sustainability and Lichfields on daylight.
