UK-Malaysia team to erect temporary paper structures drawing inspiration from Southeast Asia’s Hungry Ghost Festival

The British Council has unveiled the multi-national team set to represent the UK at the next Venice Architecture Biennale and plans for an exhibition based on temporary structures made out of paper.

The British Pavilion at the 2027 festival will draw inspiration from the Festival of Hungry Ghosts, a Buddhist event held in parts of Southeast Asia to commemorate the spirits of dead ancestors.
