Ewan Jones will be based in London studio

10 Design has announced the appointment of Ewan Jones as its managing principal for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

A former Grimshaw partner with three decades experience working in the built environment, Jones will lead the practice’s regional business from its London studio.

The WA100-listed firm was founded by senior architects who left RMJM’s troubled Asian office and the practice was originally based in Hong Kong.

It expansion into the UK and Europe followed its acquisition by French engineering consultancy Egis in 2017.

Its global staff of 400 are now located across three regional headquarters – London, Hong Kong, and San Francisco – as well as additional studios in Dubai, Edinburgh, Miami, Dallas, Shenzhen, and Singapore.

10 Design merged with hospitality specialist SB Architects in 2022, and the combined firm now forms part of Egis’ stable of architects, launched earlier this year as the 10N Collective. The group also includes WW+P, SvN,, Fenwick Iribarren Architects, U+A and Omrania.

Ross Milne, chief executive of 10 Design, said he was “delighted” to welcome Jones to the team and that his appointed marked “an exciting new chapter for 10 Design, as we expand our UK team and London studio”.

Jones has worked on projects including the St Botolph Building and Lloyds Bank’s headquarters in the City of London, teaching laboratories at Dulwich College and a successful planning appeal for 123 new homes in south-west London.

He led Grimshaw’s work on the early stages of design for the Elizabeth Line and the development consent order for Sizewell C, with more recent work including HS2’s Colne Valley Viaduct and an over-station office scheme at Paddington.

Jones is also chair of the board at the Design Commission for Wales, as well as an advisory board member at the Welsh School of Architecture.

“I am delighted to join 10 Design in a key leadership role at such a dynamic time for the practice. I look forward to developing our talented team and shaping our future direction,” said Jones.
