Seven finalists to present in August
Stanton Williams, Hawkins Brown and Austin Smith: Lord have been shortlisted for a student support centre at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
Feilden Clegg Bradley, Associated Architects, Sheppard Robson and Nicholas Hare complete the shortlist.
The RIBA competition is for a new civic square at the heart of the Preston campus as well as the student building.
The seven finalists were picked from 41 expressions of interest. They will now be asked to prepare design proposals to present to the judges on August 22.
Michael Ahern, chief operating officer at UCLan, said: “We attracted a significant amount of interest from the architectural community and we are looking forward to working with such an outstanding shortlist of architects on this phase of the project.
“The standard of submissions was world class but what made the shortlist stand out was their grasp of our key aspirations and desire to create a new heart of campus development for both the university and the city and to enrich the student experience here at UCLan.”
