John McAslan & Partners’ plans to revamp a town hall in north London have been given the green light by local planners.
Haringey Council has approved the firm’s ideas to transform the grade II listed Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End into an arts and cultural centre.
It will also include a theatre, studio space, café along with offices and more than 120 residential units.
The refurbishment will be bankrolled by the sale of adjoining land and local fundraising.
Designed by Reginald Uren, the town hall was built in 1935 and still has many of its original features in place. It regularly features in television programmes and staged rock group Queen’s first ever concert.
Capita Symonds’ town planning team managed the submission of the planning application.
