Pair of towers to contain more than 500 build-to-rent homes

TP Bennett has lodged plans for a pair of residential towers in central Birmingham set to be the last schemes to come forward on Kier’s Arena Central masterplan.

The 526-home Bridge Street scheme consists of a 30-storey tower and a neighbouring 17-story tower on plots four and five of the regeneration area just south of Centenary Square.

The Arena Central masterplan spans 10 separate plots with a mix of residential and commercial uses. Schemes already completed include Make’s 1 Centenary Square, the UK head office of HSBC’s retail banking division.

The taller of the two TP Bennett-designed towers would be the tallest on the masterplan site with the two buildings set to contain a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bed build-to-rent apartments.

The shorter tower would also contain retail and commercial space on the ground floor of the smaller tower, while both buildings would provide numerous shared spaces for residents including lounges, workspace, dining space, gyms and cinemas.

The project team includes CBRE on planning, TSA Riley and MGAC on costs, Civic on structures, civils and MEP, Ramboll on ecology, Montagu Evans on heritage, Paul Basham Associates on transport and Ruth Campbell & Co on landscape.
