Scheme being mastermind by CWG and Dutch investor
Canary Wharf Group and Dutch investor Kadans Science Partner have submitted planning for a 23-storey tower the pair say is Europe’s largest life sciences building.
The 823,000 sq ft vertical campus has been drawn up by KPF and will sit at Canary Wharf’s North Quay site in London’s Docklands. It follows outline permission already granted for a wider scheme to deliver 3.5m sq ft of laboratory space.
The planned building has been designed to allow up to 60% lab space, with laboratories on every floor.
Others working on the scheme include QS Alinea, M&E consultant Buro Happold, landscape architect Gillespies and planning consultant Quod.
The developers said the building will be low carbon, with a highly insulated and airtight building fabric, energy efficient M&E, photo voltaic panels, heat pumps and heat recovery systems.
Several science-led businesses are already located in Canary Wharf, with Genomics England recently moving into One Canada Square.
