Foster + Partners’ plans for eight residential towers in Seoul

Foster + Partners has been appointed to design a neighbourhood of eight residential towers in Seoul following a residents’ vote.

The Apgujeong District 4 scheme will be the latest high-rise scheme added to the South Korean capital’s skyline by a UK practice following a similar four-tower development by Heatherwick Studio and RSHP’s huge Parc.1 scheme, which was completed in 2022.

Fosters is also working on the IOTA Seoul I development, a mixed-use scheme of three buildings in the city including a 34-storey tower.

The firm’s latest project will form a key part of Apgujeong District 4, one of the city’s most sought-after waterfront districts, with the masterplan including ground-level leisure and retail and a large new public park.

The proposed new park

Foster + Partners head of studio Patrick Campbell said the scheme would include a “thoughtfully curated series of green spaces” including links to the busy Dosan-daero boulevard in the nearby Gangnam District.

Homes in the towers will feature triple-aspect living spaces with large terraces and views over the Han River, with buildings also including communal wellness, educational and leisure facilities.
