Single-storey garages to be replaced by four homes and an office block

DLA Architecture has submitted plans for a small mixed-use mews scheme in Belsize Park, north London.
The Haverstock Hill scheme would consist of three passivhaus mews homes, a ground-floor apartment and a commercial block for developer Freshwater.
The development would replace a series of single storey garages on Haverstock Hill road, an affluent part of the borough of Camden about 15 minutes’ walk from Hampstead Heath.

DLA said it had prioritised a fabric first approach with the design of the scheme and passivhaus principles including south-facing windows to maximise sunlight into habitable rooms.
All dwellings would be dual or triple aspect with no north-facing windows, with the scheme to include photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, sustainable rain garden drainage systems and a green roof.
The project team includes MDA on costs, Freeths on planning, Studio 413 on landscape, Structures Plus as structural engineer, ESD on MEP, Connect on transport and James Fuller on Arboriculture.
