Designing Tomorrow’s Housing will examine how to deliver better homes at scale, at a time when the focus on quality has all but disappeared from national debate

Building Design has today launched a new campaign calling for a renewed focus on the quality of 1.5 million new homes in the UK,.

Titled Designing Tomorrow’s Housing, the campaign will highlight the opportunities and constraints that architects face in trying to shape better housing outcomes. It will examine what quality really means today and how it can be delivered in the real world conditions that define most housing procurement and delivery.

The UK’s approach to housing delivery has historically alternated between large-scale public programmes and periods of private sector-led development.
