Eric Parry and Julian Harrap among built environment leaders to receive gongs

Eric Parry and Julian Harrap have been named in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to architecture.

Parry, founder of Eric Parry Architects, and Harrap, founder of Julian Harrap Architects, both accepted a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) medal in an honours list that awarded several figures in the housing and construction industry.

Eric Parry has been awarded a CBE for services to architecture

Gareth Stapleton, founder and partner of project management consultancy RiSE International, has also been handed an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to architecture and to project and construction management.

Peter Denton, former chief executive of Homes England and The Hyde, accepted a CBE for his “services to housing and to major urban regeneration”.

CBEs were also awarded to Mark Holmes, deputy chair of Mace, for services to construction; and Faith Wainwright, structural engineer and director of Arup, for her services to engineering. 

Meanwhile, Angela Lockwood, the former chief executive at North Star Housing, received an OBE for services to disadvantaged people in the North East.

Nick Smallwood, who last year stepped down as CEO of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, was awarded an OBE for services to Infrastructure and Project Delivery.

Jo Bamford was awarded a CBE for his work as boss of clean energy firm HydraB Power.

Matthew Thurstan, chief finance officer and director general, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, received a Companion order of the Bath knighthood for public service.

Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham was given a CBE for “services to culture and Manchester International Festival/Factory International”.

Katie Kendrick, Cheshire West councillor and Co-Founder of the National Leasehold Campaign, was awarded an OBE “for services to housing and leaseholders.”
