ARB to lead industry taskforce looking into reservation of professional functions as part of new construction regulator

RIBA among trade bodies asked to take part in expert working group with first report due in October

The government has asked the ARB to lead an industry taskforce which will look into options for regulating the functions of built environment professions including architects.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) wrote to ARB chief executive Hugh Simpson to order a pair of reports outlining “function-based regulatory intervention options” in the sector, including potential alignment with duty holder roles.
