Camden Council has given planning approval to three office buildings — by David Chipperfield, Allies & Morrison and Porphyrios Associates — at London’s £3 billion King’s Cross Central scheme.

The three schemes are the first be taken forward to planning in the southern part of the development which sits between King’s Cross and St Pancras railway stations.

The largest building, known as B6, has been designed by Porphyrios and covers 15,000sq m across 10 floors.

Allies & Morrison’s design for its block, B4, will feature south facing gardens and terraces for the top office floor and the rooftop.

David Chipperfield, meanwhile, has designed the smallest building.

The 5,200sq m building is intended to achieve a level of carbon emissions 42% better than required by Part L of the building regulations.

The council also approved a new public square designed by landscape architect Townshend.

Pancras Square will have a water feature as its centrepiece, surrounded by mature trees, seating and public art.

The entire 27ha King’s Cross Central site is being developed by a team that includes Argent It is due to be completed in 2025.

* British Land has signed a joint venture to build a new UK head office for bank UBS at the developer’s Broadgate development in the City.

The firm said it would make a further announcement on its deal with financier Blackstone in due course.
