Mixed-use scheme includes housing for the elderly

Haptic Architects has won an international competition to build an elderly housing scheme in the picturesque Norwegian town of Drøbak.

The new 12,000sq m scheme has been designed to fit in with the existing architecture of the town, which is known for its well-preserved wooden buildings and narrow streets coupled with views of Oslofjord.

Called Drømmehagen, the scheme will also include retail, restaurant and a new public square as well as a large car park.

Haptic, which has offices in London and Norway’s capital Oslo, beat four others to the prize including Norwegian practice Snøhetta.
