London firm’s team beats 125 entries to scoop £85,000 prize
Haptic Architects has been confirmed as the winner of a competition to design a new terminal for Air Baltic at Riga Airport in Latvia.
The London firm, working in a team that includes Narud Stokke Wiig Architects of Oslo, beat competition from 125 other teams from 35 countries.
The announcement of the winner of the £85,000 first prize took place more than a year after the submission date because of changes in the Latvian national airline’s ownership structure.
The brief was for a “functional, efficient and comfortable terminal” for 8 million passengers and “an architectural design that reflects the unique face of Latvia”.
