Terry Farrell & Partners has revealed designs for an £80 million seafront development in Weymouth.

The scheme, for developer Urban Catalyst, includes a central plaza, a 1,200-seat theatre, a world heritage centre and a new ferry terminal building.

The proposal is competing with a rival scheme by Bristol practice Barlow Henley and developer Howard Holdings, but councillors at a meeting of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council on Monday were unable to choose a preferred scheme.

An earlier public consultation revealed the Barlow Henley proposal is more popular, with 36% of respondents backing it as opposed to 20% for the Farrell development.

The council’s management committee will now decide which scheme to back.
