Practice lands first major design projects in Gulf state
Chapman Taylor has won its first schemes in Iran with a brace of deals to work on massive shopping centre schemes.
Huge shopping centres are springing up across Iran as the state reshapes its economy after years of being hobbled by Western economic sanctions.
The practice behind MediaCity UK in Salford has picked up design roles on two giant shopping malls in the Gulf state.
The firm has been commissioned to draw up a masterplan for a 750,000sq m retail scheme in Iran’s second biggest city, Mashhad, in the north east of the country.
The Jahan Mall project consists of a 420,000sq m shopping mall, hotel, offices and luxury flats, as well as 330,000 sq m car parking and support facilities.
And it has been appointed as an interior designer on the huge Iran Mall project in the capital Tehran.
At 1.2 million sq m of floor space covering 33ha, the mall will be Tehran’s largest once complete. It will include 400,000 sq m of retail space as well as cultural, hotel, and sports facilities.
