The Bell Phillips director explains how her relationship with Lasdun’s masterpiece has changed over the years
What’s particularly interesting for me about The National Theatre is that it has been part of my consciousness since very early childhood. The joy I took from it at first was based more on the physical experience of the space rather than any intellectual understanding of the building’s significance or history.
