Geberit TurboFlush technology goes mainstream

The TurboFlush is a genuinely innovative design built upon two key changes to the toilet:

• Rimless bowl – traditional toilets distribute water via a rim that runs around the top of the bowl, with holes or channels underneath it. TurboFlush eliminates that rim entirely. This removes the hidden underside surface where bacteria and limescale accumulate and where cleaning is difficult or impossible.
• Side-entry directional inlet – at the same time, rather than water cascading straight down from a rim, TurboFlush introduces the water through a single, angled inlet on the side of the bowl. This creates a powerful horizontal vortex and means the water spins around the bowl in a swirling motion, like a centrifuge.

The bowl itself is contoured to sustain and guide that rotating flow – the shape keeps the water spinning rather than letting it dissipate straight away. This means:

• The swirling action carries the water across the entire bowl surface, so every part gets washed with each flush – something a rimless design on its own without directional flow wouldn’t automatically achieve
• Centrifugal force pushes water (and waste) outward against the bowl walls and then down toward the trap, making the flush more efficient
• Less water is required. The same cleaning effect is achieved with significantly less water – typically half as much as older designs
• At the same time, splash is minimised.

So, to sum up, the innovative shape converts a single directional water jet into a self-sustaining vortex that does the cleaning work that a traditional rim flush toilet needs much more water to accomplish.

Until now the TurboFlush technology has been restricted to Geberit’s premium toilets. Now with the arrival of the Selnova wall-hung WC, the firm has extended the technology across its entire WC portfolio, ensuring the benefits of superior flushing performance, enhanced hygiene and quieter operation are available throughout the full range of bathroom solution.
