I will be interested to see how the amphibious house could be detailed to ensure that debris material is kept out during a flood event to ensure that the building can rest level on its footings again once the waters have subsided.

The other issue - regardless of the solution employed when building in a high flood risk areas (be that stilts / amphibious, flood-able surfaces, etc) is how long you're willing to be holed-up in your house. If flood events are increasing in duration, the risk is you are just stranded on your own tiny island.

A boat would seem to be a simpler solution to this age-old problem.
