RIP for one of our most incisive and relevant architecture critics and theoreticians who like so many others, had to go to the United States to find receptiveness and support for intellectual work on real architecture. Colquhoun in life was (and remains in his valuable essays) an active influence on the practice of architecture. We need many more Colquhouns, able to forensically analyse the compositional elements of architectural language and uncover their meaning; and to do so in way that always return us to real practice. What a terrible loss.
