As much as I applaud Heneghan Peng’s new visitor centre I find it very hard to have the same passion for the new Architectural School they designed for the University of Greenwich. This building is also within a national heritage site directly opposite the famous St. Alfege church by Hawksmoor and just metres from the main gates of the Royal Park and Maritime museum.
The locals describe the new building's plans as a cross between a 1970’s multi-storey carpark and unoccupied Spanish timeshare apartments.
It had objections of 27 to 6 but the plans were still approved.
How can one heritage site using the same architect get it so right but another so wrong?
