This is a very indulgent and over the top (quite literally) scheme, especially when the rest of the country is facing cuts to its public transport. Just build two jetties and put on a ferry crossing if you need to create another means of crossing the Thames so badly by the 2012 Olympics. I fear London will get its way again, because it is 'The City' after all - and us mere mortals outside the M25 should all be aspiring to Dick Whittington our way down to the only City in town.
