It is not often that a reviewer selects a place from which to look, where without being temporarilly blinded by the forces of fashion, it is possible to see, metaphorically what is there before one's eyes. Ellis Woodman's thoughts are revealing, pertinent and important. Take note. Public architecture needs to be more than worryingly expensive but highly sought after gestures of individuality. Even Brit Art has come to the end of the road and architecture takes a lot longer to change direction so how about some serious thinking. Surely a deep awareness of the riches and complexities of life give more than enough material to work with.
