What no one seems to ask is the actual height of this intusion: 61 m, about the height of the Scott Monument, but so much bulkier. Also why did the developers have to raise the height from 49m to 61m? Preserve our unique skyline. Such a building as this Haymarket Hotel could be seen in pretty much any other city in the world e.g. by the railway bridge in the centre of Cologne. Lowered to 8-10 stories this could be acceptable. Why not build it down at he current level of the railway? HS takes a ridiculous view that they would approve it just because they didn't like the previous scheme. NO , protect our heritage at all costs. We can still have a fabulous and stylish new building building-and I DO like modern architecture- but just not this high tower exactly here.
