Reiach & Hall to design Bannockburn visitor centre
Reiach & Hall has won a competition to design a £5 million ’interpretation centre’ at the site of the Battle of Bannockburn.
The brief is to create a world-class visitor attraction incorporating an immersive digital experience designed to transport visitors back to the 14th-century battle, said Scottish culture minister Fiona Hyslop.
Historic Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland hope to submit a design for planning in January with the centre due to open in 2014, the 700th anniversary of one of Scotland’s most significant battles.
They hope the new centre will increase visitor numbers by a third, with 100,000 expected in the first year.
