New aerial images of 2012 Olympic venues released
More than 12,000 people now on Olympic Park site
The Olympic Delivery Authority has released new aerial images of the venues for next year’s London Olympics.
Work on the main venues, including the main stadium and aquatics centre, is 80% complete and more than 12,000 people are currently working on the east London site.
The last main venue to be completed will by Zaha Hadid’s aquatics centre which is expected to be finished at the end of the summer. The ’wings’ at the side of the complex provide the temporary seating for the swimming and diving events which will take capacity up to 17,500 before dropping down to 2,500 in legacy mode.
The Hopkins-designed velodrome was the first main venue to be completed when it was handed over to the 2012 organising committee last month.
