Gehry joins Israel boycott over West Bank settlements
Frank Gehry has joined leading cultural figures in a boycott on working in Israeli settlements.
Conductor Daniel Barenboim and actor Vanessa Redgrave have also expressed solidarity with Israeli artists who refuse to perform in the West Bank.
The boycott is spearheaded by pressure groups Jewish Voice for Peace.
Cecilie Surasky, deputy director of the organisation, said: “It is particularly critical for architects to speak out against the ongoing construction of Jewish-only communities on Palestinian land.”
Earlier this year Gehry quit a $250m project to build a Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem, on the site of a Muslim cemetery.
