Green outlook for new distillery by Austin-Smith Lord
A new distillery designed by Austin-Smith Lord for drinks firm Diageo has been opened.
The £40 million facility, at Roseisle, Morayshire, is the first major distillery in Scotland for 30 years.
It has been designed to be energy efficient, with the majority of its liquid and solid by-products recycled on site in a bioenergy facility.
The project is scheduled to produce around 10 million litres of spirits per year, with the bioenergy complex helping it to produce most of its own energy. It is estimated that the bioenergy complex will reduce CO2 emissions by 13,000 tonnes.
