Firm to pick up Sheppard Robson design at RIBA Stage E

Manchester Metropolitan University

Capita Symonds has been appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to take over the design for a new academic building at Manchester Metropolitan University from Sheppard Robson.

The £60 million project comprises the construction of a new five-storey academic building, energy centre and public realm works for the faculties of education and health, psychology and social care.

Capita Symonds will be utilising a multidisciplinary BIM approach on the 21,400 sqm facility.

The building is part of a wider £139 million masterplan for the Birley Fields campus which includes 1200 student residencies and a multi-storey car park.

Work on site has begun, with development set to finish in September 2014.
